The BMW B28 is a 2.8-liter inline-six engine produced from 1979 to 1987. It was installed in a variety of BMW vehicles including the 528i and 728i. The engine was capable of producing up to 184 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. It featured a cast iron block and aluminum head design, with a DOHC 24-valve layout. In addition, it utilized electronic fuel injection and was mated to either a four-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission. The B28 engine was known for its strong power delivery and smooth running operation.
